Seedlings is a unique infant, toddler, and preschool program for children 6 months to 5 years of age. We also offer a Developmental Kindergarten program for children age-eligible for Kindergarten, but who need an extra year of preschool. Seedlings is a licensed, part-time program which operates September through June with an optional summer camp program. Our preschool is set in the beautiful hills of Lamorinda and has been in operation since 1983. Admission to our school is not limited by reason of religious, racial, or national background. Seedlings is a component of Children's Ministry at LOPC, providing a unique outreach ministry to families within the church and its community. We use a multicultural curriculum, which includes the Christian tradition.
OUR MISSION:
Seedlings of the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC) provides a learning center which nurtures the emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs of young children.
Among Seedlings' core values are:
A high degree of excellence in staffing and planning;
A developmentally appropriate and safe learning environment for each child's exploration and discovery of their world;
Support for parents and families
While Seedlings teachers do not teach specific doctrine in their classroom, its intent is to model and encourage Christ-like values: responsibility, belonging, joy, respect, tolerance, compassion, and charity.
OUR CHILDREN:
The emphasis on play at Seedlings fosters a world, both real and imaginary, where children can master their environment, make choices, develop a sense of belonging, and build their self-esteem. Building self esteem while allowing children to make choices is the primary goal of our infant, toddler, and preschool programs. Our Developmental Kindergarten program is intended to provide a kindergarten-like setting where children are enhancing the skills they will need for a positive elementary school experience.
